While still in art school, a family friend gave me the gift of a book of Elliot Porter photographs. He was a Harvard educated scientist turned artist, mentored by Adams and Stieglitz,and personal friends with Georgia O'Keefe. Heady company indeed. His images have stuck with my mind's eye as a standard for capturing the beauty and  stillness of nature.
